Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is on call to respond to national disasters by collecting food and funds for relief efforts in affected areas. As a member of America’s Second Harvest, the national network of food banks, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina can accept community donations to get the most urgently needed items to those in greatest need in any section of the country.
The most critical needs with a natural disaster are usually bottled water, canned goods and money to assist with transportation costs. During Hurricane Katrina, Second Harvest Food Bank sent a dozen truckloads of product into Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida.
For information on how you can assist during a national disaster, please contact Kay Carter at 704-375-9639, ext. 16 or via e-mail at kcarter@secondharvest.org.
As the largest hunger relief charity in the Metrolina area, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina works to end hunger. We do this by supplying a network of over 600 non-profit agencies and churches in 19 counties with food and essential grocery products.
